I really hate to say it, but we are losing this forum to some two-legged pieces of excrement apparently operating out of China and/or Korea. I've lost count of how many spam messages they're posting, but it's beginning to flood out the actual coven members. I had this happen to a couple of Yahoo groups back in the day (I've been online a LONG time), and it can totally destroy a group or forum. Based on experience (I also used to work in Internet security in a previous life), I'd say it's time that signing up for the forum requires each person signing up to be vetted... that is, they sign up but do NOT get access until a system administrator has emailed back to verify their identity. It's a lot more labor-intensive but it can put a major dent in the spammers' operations and has the potential to save this forum from becoming a spam-crammed wasteland. The Sysadmins don't have to edit or censor or control any of the real posts (and hopefully won't!) but just by making sure there's a real human being actually interested in what this forum is for at the other end of the wire with that initial contact, they can keep this coven happily growing and helping each other.

The spammers are just way too much. I've lost count of how many accounts I reported this month and it has to be a ton of work for the mods to check every single repoted account.
Olivia has contacted the actual owners of Wix (who makes this website possible) and last I heard she is still awaiting a response :/
I think how people are able to register an account is out of her hands, but I'll make sure she is aware of the suggestion!
Sorry about
Am keeping my fingers (and toes, and eyes, and...) crossed!
Pardon the facetiousness, but, is there a candle for this?
There's always a candle for that :D
Hate to necro a thread, but as a fellow dusty old coot I feel the need to give my input. Why not just add a captcha to the sign-up page, or perhaps some kind of email verification? I don't know if it's possible since I'm not the webmaster here or anything obviously, but I think it'd help greatly with filtering out bots (which are really behind most spam accounts, in my experience) if it can be done.
It's been a long battle of trying to get to the Wix support. Once I get a hold of them, they seem to be giving me the same answers over and over and sending me to the same 'support' pages I've already seen 1,000 times. It's frustrating, but I'm doing my best to get this fixed.
Thank you for your effort. We know you're doing your best to get this solved. Sending good luck your way, hopefully Wix does something to fix this.
