Greetings. I'm a beginner witch that just started learning this year, but already I've been enjoying it so much. I'm currently living in Japan so it's not easy to find a witchy community in my area, but learning about the Shinto traditions (not an expert btw) is actually part of what sparked my recent interest in witchcraft (although I think I've actually been interested in it since I was little).
I'm not typically very social online and I haven't posted in a forum in probably over a decade. However, I think with my journey into witchcraft, I'll be needing some occasional help and social connection. I hope I can learn from the folks here and share some of my own knowledge and experiences.
Hiya, welcome this is a wonderful community. Best advise I got is STUDY! as Olivia always says "75% of the craft is researching and learning, the other 25% is doing"
Thank you. Yeah, I've been reading a lot. The funny thing is that I now study witchcraft when I need a break from studying for my Master's program.
Hey :) I agree; my focus is mostly reading/ researching, and the rest gardening and collecting crystals. I'm an artist, so I sometimes incorporate the craft into my work as well.
I've always been a bit of a hobby artist, but I haven't really worked it into my craft, except for making a few sigils. I'm curious, how do you incorporate it?
Sometimes I like to meditate for an hour or so before working, and it can help with brainstorming and finding inspiration. Painting/ drawing itself is very meditative, and over time your work can reveal themes/ signs for you to explore. I also like painting my more wild dreams and nightmares from time to time. You can use it any way you like. You get to make up the rules!
Hello Brittany!
How you mix Shinto in with your craft sounds so interesting, so I hope we hear more from you and your craft! Or if you want to keep it to yourself that is cool too, doing you is kinda the witchy thing to do. :D
I'm very new too, trying to mix in some Finnish folklore and magic in my craft (since I'm from there so it feels appropriate).
Nice to meet you!
