(🔺Small Disclaimer: In writing this I found it quite difficult to choose words and terminology that felt right, so I apologise if I have used anything incorrectly!🔺)
My name is lau5rah and I have only a very surface level knowledge of Witch communities, cultures, crafts and practice.
While I do have a genuine interest in witchcraft and desire to learn more, my presence here is twofold. I am a student of religious anthropology at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. I am currently investigating the connection between digital media and religious practice. In reaching out to communities such as this one I hope to hear the opinions of real people and thereby get closer to a richer, more authentic understanding of how Witches use digital media.
I have been immersing myself in the world of Witches as I find it on Instagram; popular hashtags and accounts, similar trends and how Witches interact with the platform and each other. It is through Instagram that I landed here! Using my observations I will be writing a short blog to be shared with my classmates.
I wonder if platforms, such as Instagram, have helped in connecting Witches with one another and in creating communities. I would very much like to hear your opinions or thoughts on this subject. For example, Are you active as a witch on social media?
Has social media helped you, as a Witch, in any way and if so how?
If you’ve read this far - thank you very very much!😊 Any thoughts at all would be oh so welcome⭐️.
(and if you would like to know more about my class and research, just ask! )
Wishing you a happy day,
