Hi all! Where to begin...
I live in England but am originally from Oklahoma, but I can't say that I'd ever want to go back there. After nearly 20 years I feel far more comfortable here than there. Besides, I think I was destined to be here, which is another very long story for another day, so I'll spare you. As for spirituality, I am a Christian but I have always felt a pull to things that are more mystical and the unknown. This was kind of difficult having been brought up in a Free Will Baptist church and family. Once I moved to England I eventually ended up in an Anglican (Church of England) church and felt right at home. The liturgy and the ritual really did appeal to me and helps draw me into a place of worship and meditation. As I've gotten older, that pull towards the craft has gotten stronger. Year after year (always in August/September/October!) I've tried to ignore this near ache in my bones for something more, something different, something more intimate than what I've experienced. This year is the year that I am going for it! Over the last two months I've been doing a lot of reading and working on meditating. I've been using a lot of resources using the Northumbrian Community's Celtic Daily Prayer book to start my day with. As I've been thumbing through the book, I'm just so amazed at the amount of ready made prayers, blessings and liturgies that are included in there that will be so useful in spellcrafting and for celebrating through the year.
Heh... look at this... I always tell people that I could talk the hind leg off a donkey and it apparently is a habit that sneaks into my writing!
At any rate, I am so pleased to be here and I am so pleased that I stumbled across Olivia's videos. Her warmth and enthusiasm for just going for it and for finding your own path has been very inspiring to me and I really appreciate it!
I have found that the Anglican Church is a good foundation for other spiritual paths. All of the magic and rituals of the Catholic Church, but more open minded.
The Anglican church covers such a wide variety of worship as well. You get the super high Anglo-Catholic churches where they use incense and bells all the way down to really evangelistic cafe-style churches that are barely on the candlestick! Mine is probably somewhere in the middle and we definitely have some 'holy rollers', but I am very glad for having become part of it.
Welcome home Mandy!...I can relate to your story and have the same feelings come
August, Sept. and Oct....I call it the "Witchy Season" and it's when I do my best work...I feel it right to my very core so I definitely know of what you speak. It's kind of an open season for finding one's path and life opens up to you in ways you hadn't noticed before...you become more self actualized...Yeah bring it!...great feeling of self empowerment...so keep it going throughout the year!...and hey don't worry about talking the ears off anyone here...we are here for each other and you will find a great deal of knowledge and comfort here...so again Welcome to the Coven ...in light and love Blessed Be
Yes! When I was growing up in Oklahoma I just kind of assumed that I felt this way simply because it was a sense of relief that the super miserable temperatures of summer were behind us, but as I got older I knew there was more to it. I feel more alive and have a driving need to work on my spirituality as well as do a lot of homey things (I definitely feel drawn to kitchen witchery!). I certainly do feel a sense of self-empowerment and I am looking forward to doing what you said and keep it going throughout the year!
@Mandy M I think we are kindred spirits! I couldn't have expressed it better...stay in touch sister friend! Blessed Be
