Okay so I'm someone who drawing A LOT and whenever something feels wrong (also clairsentient so feelings are a huge thing for me) my immediate instinct is to draw. So I was wondering if it was possible to do spells...but like...as drawings? And I don't mean sigils because goddess (or who/whatever you believe in) knows I use sigils all the time. But drawings...like detailed, in sketchbook type of drawings. So yeah...is it possible to make drawings spells?
EDIT:
Someone asked me to share some of my art and I only have some of it on me and none of it is my best work but i mean here are some lol

I truly believe drawings can be spells, too; especially for the fact that each mark you make channels your intentions directly from the abstract to the concrete, much like writing commands on paper before burning them. In addition, I believe taking such time and focused attention onto one idea charges it more; and drawings give you the chance to incorporate specific materials with their own purpose into the art. This is, to me, a magickal recipe on its own.
Oh I AGGRESSIVELY agree, it's all about intention, and each stroke you do to your drawing, is like you are engraving your intention into the art which can be channeled by ones eye. If that makes sense anyways lol
Thank you!! Very encouraging and helpful!
Yes, I think that absolutely, drawings can be spells. For me, these often feel like blessings and "prayers". I have only very recently started my craft - conscious craft - but there have been many moments all through my life, where my intuition has driven me to draw or paint a piece for a specific person. Sometimes, a song or a mantra starts bubbling inside me while I create, and I will let it come out and be "joined" into the creation. Interestingly, this has happened the most with people I barely know, or people I will for one reason or another not meet much, after giving them the spell / blessing. I will feel strongly drawn to create a drawing or painting, gift it to them, and *Poof* they are out of my life for one reason or another. I have felt very blessed to have this happen to me, and now that I am more conscious of what I am doing - and that the things I have been creating are indeed magical - I am very much looking forward to working more with this gift. As a side note for those who might be creeped out by this all; there has always been a positive intention with these creations, and in my heart I know these have not been dark/evil. Also, Del W makes very good points <3 And I agree with WoodWalkerD, that it would be lovely to see some of your creations, if you feel comfortable sharing <3 Blessed be! Oh, and P.S: A similar thing has happened with other mediums too.. Since I was small I've crafted crowns, wands, charm bags, potions... All without knowing they were magical. And they always helped in some way, in those moments.
@WoodWalkerD Oh, might very well be!
Thank you, this reply is amazing and so helpful!! I appreciate it very much!
@little witch Paige Oh, lovely! You are very welcome <3 Blessed be
Oh, I adore the addition of your art, Paige! They give me divination vibes. Like I could use them in a similar way to tarot cards or runes. Very nice, well done! And thank you so much for sharing.
Awe thank you so much! Im always a little scared of showing people my art because it's super personal to me, but this felt like a safe space to do it, so I'm very thankful for the positive feedback!
Some of the oldest recorded spells in human history are from ancient Egypt -- not written with a standard alphabet, but drawn in heiroglyphs. The vast majority of present-day written languages can be traced back to pictographs -- little drawings -- either showing things or expressing ideas. Intent is the root of all spells; I can't see any reason that can only be expressed in writing. :-)
Thank you, I never thought of it that way but it completely makes sense!
Yes; artwork and designs can be used for all sorts of things in magic.
If you're feeling anxious or need to feel grounded, sketch your power animal, totem, spirit animal, tulpa, or other spirit that brings you the qualities you seek.
If you wish to feel inspired, draw your "muse" or your imagining of a muse. Place the drawing where you would like to feel inspired, like above your desk or the inside cover of your sketchbook.
If you wish for protection, draw your protective spirit and keep it someplace close to you, like your wallet, backpack, or above your bed.
Sometimes drawing can be used as a form of divination or scrying. Light a candle and some incense, and let your mind wander as you draw. If you're looking for an answer to a particular question, concentrate on the question or the general situation while you draw. When you're finished, an answer might reveal itself in the design.
Drawing knots can take the place of real knots in a spell if you have no rope, twine, ribbon, etc. Make the knot a complicated interlocking design with "no loose ends".
Art can be used in many ways, even shadow work. Don't be afraid to invent some things of your own! Just keep track in your Book of Shadows as to what works and what doesn't; art really makes the journey fun!
your drawings ARE spells if you intend them to be. i've began exploring the cottage witch path and part of that is blessing your home with purposefully creating art. your artwork is beautiful and full of energy! create with intention and find your path <3
blessed be!
Thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words and knowledge
