Hello everyone:)
My names Brandon, I am 24, Christian and not practicing magic (that I know of, lol)
I am here because I have been very intrested in witches for a while. Listening to podcast, watching documentaries, ect. I was bored tonight and find myself in a rabbit hole of witchcraft curiosity.
I was nervous to join this forum just because I don't think I will be accepted for just being curious about the community, but after watching the witch of wonderlust YouTube channel and browsing the forums on this website, I decided to try it because everyone seems so kind and welcoming.
A little background. Yes I am Christian and TYPICALLY it seems that Christians and modern witches don't seem to.. Get along (for lack of a better term) but I am human first. I believe if someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't make them wrong or vice versa, it just means they figured out a way that fits their path. & I LOVE that. It makes life so much more interesting when we are all so different. And 2nd, as a Christian MY personal belief is to love everyone, not judge and treat everyone the way I would want to be treated. (I know, I know, the Christian community does a very bad job at this on most occasions, & I HATE that.) But that's why I am here. This community is a taboo for me but it is important for me. I was called to the YouTube channel which called me to this forum. And I'm glad!
Im very interested in learning more & to not be ignorant when meeting a modern witch. & hopefully I'll be able to interact with some of you here! :)
If anyone has any questions, I am an open book! :)
Hey Brandon. Hello and welcome! I think it's great that you were able to share your interest with us. It's nice to see open-minded people that might not be on a magical path want to learn and educate themselves on alternative beliefs. I think everyone is entitled to their own personal spiritual journal, regardless of religion. Kindness is the KEY - thanks for spreading that in your post!
Of course! Thanks for the reply! And I agree, kindness is key! And I hope to share that with all of you
I am truly grateful to livepaperhelp for providing me with top-class quality work and that too on time. If you are looking for writer services, I would recommend you choose them.
Hello! I'm also new to this community (and found it in a similar way, by falling down the rabbit hole of video recommendations on youtube) but I'm not new to the practice by any means! I was raised catholic and taught from a young age to have an open mind, especially since so many Catholic and Christian traditions have roots in much older practices and religions.
A lot of the religious practices could even be interpreted as forms of the craft - prayers are just another form of intention and manifestation, anointing things with holy water is just another form of charging things, incense is used for clearing, etc. I don't think the two need to be at odds with each other, and like you I just wish more folks would be willing to have an open mind and live by the golden rule.
I was raised Catholic and I'm a brand new baby witch. like, infant witch. I'm practicing in secret, partly because I'm in college and have a new roommate, and I am not sure about how she will react, and partly because of my family and religion.
Its kind of a weird religion situation for me. Like I said I was raised Catholic, but my family is pretty accepting, and not super hardcore religious. My dads side is much less religious, but grandmother on my mom's side is a bit more. She does go to church every sunday, but shes pretty open. I have always been into sort of spooky and magical things, and she has never once even hinted at my interests being wrong. There's a ouija board in their house, not sure if its from my mom or aunts, but my grandmother had no problem using it with my sister and I as kids. She is the normal kind of grandmotherly clueless about Harry Potter and my love for it but it doesn't bother her. She's open and accepting of minorities, and although she finds movies like IT gross and unnecessary, she doesn't judge me for enjoying it.
My mom is, different. We were raised in a pretty open and easygoing church, and went through all the sacraments, i've been confirmed, but we would really only go to church on holidays like christmas and easter, or when we "had to" for CCD or sunday school programs. My mom is also accepting of minorities and all that, but she can be weird about religious things. She has no problem with me being interested in spirits and myths and religions and harry potter, we used to watch Ghost Hunters together when I was little. Occasionally though, if it sounds like I'm starting to get more into these things she starts sounding more disapproving, like you arent really gonna start doing that are you? type things, when I start talking about my own deeper dives into more real spirits and ghosts and occasionally witchy things. She hasn't said anything specifically against witchcraft, but I'm in a place where I dont know how this will be received.
Personally, I don't know where I am with religion, but I don't think I would say catholic or christian. If I had to say, then maybe agnostic? I think there is something, something to explain the unexplainable, but it is most likely also unexplainable, and I am open to things like spirits and energies and angels and demons.
(sorry to write a whole book on your post, oops )
I was looking for expert writers for the blog that I was running and Biology assignment help came to my rescue with it. Their writers are one of the best and provide with quality content.
Hi, Brandon -- welcome! I'm not Christian (I was raised & identify as Jewish) but as a long-time history buff I can tell you that none of the world's major religions, Abrahamic or other, has a monopoly on a love/hate relationship with witchcraft. Some cultures & religions have periodically accepted it, some have consistently identified it as evil, but all have (knowingly or unknowingly) embraced various aspects & practices of the Craft as part of themselves. Here in the West, there are times the "Witches vs. Christians" thing seems to be a required societal meme that's always on the verge of devolving into parody but -- as I'm sure you're already seeing -- there are plenty of folks who truly & deeply identify as both.
I was raised to believe we're all humans first, anything else second; I've also grown to believe that the more you know about the world and the people living in it, the more interesting and fun a place it is and the easier it is to share constructively with all those other humans. From what I've seen in the many discussions here, you've come to the right place to learn about & familiarize yourself with many different forms of witchcraft -- no strings attached. :-)
