I have been looking for a way to put this out for a long time. I have an approach for discussing Tarot with people who are not believers in the esoteric. You do not need to believe in spiritism or divination to get something from the Tarot. This would fall more along the lines of a conversation tool for Therapists. Each card in a reading is a focal point for that conversation or perhaps a way to approach a certain situation. Ex: For this example let's say your subject has 3 jobs to choose from and is having difficulty deciding what the right choice is. This would be a very easy 3 card spread. Assign one path per card or maybe use all three cards as a way to approach each option. Almost like a pros and cons list. In this drawing I pulled the 8 of Cups, The King of Wands reversed, and the King of Cups. This would be great for the second method. - What would you be leaving behind for this job? Is that necessary for Happiness? - What is actually in the offer and what is just the sales pitch? possible promotions are sales pitches or at best gambles. - Which boss seems most sincere and whom is the most manipulative? This will lead to a very in depth conversation that neither party would have come up with on there own. Each meaning will come from personal and 2nd hand analysis. It may not give a clear cut answer and take away doubt but it will arm this person with more perspective. They will chew on it until they come to a decision. I personally like to use this for Tarot Spell casting. It helps me plan upcoming events. I had a difficult conversation recently and leading up to it I did a reading. I pull two cards. One is the result (face up) and the other is the tool or variable I can manipulate to achieve the best result (face down). In this case I pulled my Fortune card. I tried to imagine how the conversation would go realistically but ending in way that was positive. Then I turn the second card over, Temperance. For me this meant not just keeping a level head but also realizing that I will have to give something up for this to be positive in my life. Imagine the conversation again and focus on how Temperance can be used to improve the outcome. For the practical user this would be a kin to coming up with a strategy before hand. Not only are my desires and strategies set previous to the event they are things I know I can stand behind as ethical choices. In the heat of the moment our choices are not always in line with our beliefs. With this method they are. Whenever you feel things start to stray you have your variable card to think back to. Getting heated, think of Temperance. This will keep your intent focused. It has worked wonders for me and can for anyone, whether it be a knowing Magickian or not.
