Hello! A little background before my question. So, my family on my father's side is from Veracruz, Mexico. Veracruz is home to Catemaco (a city that revolves around witchcraft and occultism). Anyways, when my parents separated I sort of lost contact with my dad's family until 2012 that I got in contact with my uncle. I visited him and after chatting for a while, we started talking about spirits and the sort because my cousin (his daughter) was telling me about her experiences with the paranormal (she can see spirits). My uncle proceeded to tell me about his grandfather (my great grandfather) and how he was a powerful "brujo"(sorcerer, witch, or however you want to call him lol). He told me about experiences he had with him and and things that to this day he has no way to explain other than by magic.
Now, forward to Sep./2018, I felt a call to start practicing witchcraft. I should state that I've been attracted to everything that has to do with occultism since I was a child, but never acted on it because of the fear my Catholic family engraved in my mind. You know, the whole "witchcraft is evil and from the devil". I remember that I bought a tarot deck when I was in my teens, but eventually my mom found them and threw them away. To be fair with my mom, she threw them away because she blamed them for paranormal things that were happening to me at the time, due to things I meddled in that I had no business meddling in because I was not ready(but that's another long story). Now, after babbling so much, my question is as follows...What can I do to contact my great grandfather? I asked my uncle for his name and more info about him, but he refuses to give me more info. See, my great grandfather apparently did things to the family that caused them to stop talking to him and just stay away. The only way to get his info is to request birth certificates but I'm not going to Mexico just to get a birth certificate. So does anyone know of a way to contact an ancestor without having much info on that person? Sorry for the long post, and much thanks in advance! -D
