I'm a beginner witch, and I feel really drawn to candle magic, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the logistics. So it seems like with most spells you're supposed to let the candle burn down and go out on its own, but what does that mean happens to the energy? Does it start manifesting when you first light it and keep working after it goes out, or does it stop when the candle goes out and you need to start over? Does it only really start working when the candle burns out? If its somethings like protection where you want it to continue, how do you keep that energy going when the candle's burned out? Start again or add new candle? And finally, how do you dispose of the candle remnants etc, after it's all done; is it ok to just throw it away? Would really be interested in anyone's experience with candle magic and how it works. Thanks!

Hi :)
Candle magic begins manifesting as soon as you begin the spell. Carve your sigils/ symbols, anoint with oil if you want or need, add herbs, petals, small offerings as needed. Lighting the candle completes the ritual, and as it burns, your spell "charges up".
If you want the spell to complete itself, let the candle burn down completely. If you need to "pause" the spell to begin another time, put the candle out with a snuffer or spoon. DO NOT BLOW OUT THE FLAME. If you blow out the flame, your spell will be incomplete and you'll have to start over.
Don't try to reuse or re-purpose candles from old spells. I was told long ago that one could do this by scraping the old sigils off and re-carving new ones and re-anointing it with oil, but that leads to very troublesome and twisted interpretations of both spells. The only way I dispose of old spell candles is by thanking them and throwing them away, burying, or burning them in a fire pit.
You can go by color with your spell candles or use white, as white is neutral and can have anything applied to it. I use white 99% of the time because it blends in really well with decor and is super cheap, but for special occasions I'll buy a special colored candle.
Hope this helps
