Hi there!
So I've been wanting to tea dye paper for a was wondering if anyone knows weather to print something on printer paper then tea dye it, or dye the paper then print on it? Any other suggestions about this DIY would help, also if anyone would want to share how they make their Tea Dyed Paper and what Tea they use.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)
If your printer is anything like mine, it'll lose its mind if I try to use wrinkly paper, which is a side effect of the process. So I'd say print first, make sure ink is dry then go about dying it. Also I usually use coffee cause it feels stronger and I love the smell, never really tried with tea but probably darker ones would stain best
I have recently tried both printed before and printed after and as stated above, the wrinkled paper plays havoc on your printer and if it works it will only work one sheet at a time. I have not had any problem with the colors bleeding or running and the paper looks fantastic! I just use black tea and let them soak for about 5 minutes. I've seen some people lay them out to air-dry and others put them in the oven. I did use the oven at 250 degrees and set them on a rack over a cookie sheet to catch the drips. It takes about half an hour to 45 minutes for about 20 sheets. Good luck and have fun!
