I'm curious everyone's thoughts on snuffing candles / blowing them out. I've always heard to never blow out a candle. Also what are your thoughts on putting a candle out and re lighting? say if it is a large candle you need to leave etc.
It's where you put something over a candle flame to deprive the flame of oxygen so it goes out on it's own in a very short amount of time. If your candle is in a jar, some people just put the jar lid back on, but generally people use a 'candle snuffer' (the item in the picture). You hold the little bell-shaped piece over the flame (so that the flame is inside completely) and wait around 30 seconds for the flame to go out. Generally you can buy snuffers in supermarkets, homeware stores, candle stores, or just about anywhere (they are quite common).
Hope this helps! xx
Generally, people say to blow out the candle if it is the end of the spell and to snuff if it is not (and you plan to relight it for the same spell), because blowing it creates some kind of finality. I've always blown out all my candles until I heard of this idea, and I still blow them out, however I do want to get a candle snuffer because apparently it can make your candles last longer.
But as with anything in witchcraft, do what feels right for you!
Blessings, Phi xx
