Dumb question: I want to make a petition for the benefit of another person, in the step where you write diagonally, do you sign their signature or your own?
It feels weird writing someone else's signature, but I feel like their name should not be confused with mine on the paper?
Thoughts anyone?
My thoughts are that signing your own name as the petitioner makes the most sense because you are the one actually doing the action. Similar to if you were writing a check of your own for someone else to cash.
There is a variant petition method you could use of writing out a single line petition three times instead of writing over each section. In essence you would write something like "Jane Smith will have enough money to pay her rent by the end of the week." written on three lines from top to bottom.
Example:
"Jane Smith will have enough money to pay her rent by the end of the week." "Jane Smith will have enough money to pay her rent by the end of the week." "Jane Smith will have enough money to pay her rent by the end of the week."
As you aren't seeking to bring anything in or push anything away from yourself the spinning of the paper as you write wouldn't be a necessary action so overall the three line method may be the best for this scenario. You can then do any of the standard petition methods of resting it under a candle, placing it in a significant place, carrying it with you, or burning it to release it into the air. What you do with it once you've written the petition out is mainly a personal preference so do whatever best solidifies the petition in your own eyes.
This is more of a theoretical response though, as I have not done any written petitions myself. I do however feel pretty confident in this methodology and if your intentions are clear and strong you will likely see the results you're aiming for.
Also, questions are never dumb. Seeking out knowledge on a subject you would like a greater understanding of is actually a rather intelligent thing to do. :)
Thank you for your reply and input! Just for posterity, before you replied I ended up using the petition with the other person's name on it and it worked great for me anyways. It seems that it doesn't matter as long as the intention and other components of the petition are there.
I did the whole process that Olivia described, turning and all except with my friend in mind. I then placed the petition under a candle with the picture of the person intended leaning against it and lit the candle over several days, coming to it and refreshing my intention each day until my goal was reached. I'm very curious about different methods of doing this so if anyone wants to do a petition a their own way and tell everyone how it went I think that would be cool. :)
