I’ve been reading/watching lots of witchy information just trying to learn more about the craft. I’ve noticed that I often see the word “Cleansing” and I know you should do it to the tools/candles your using, but I can’t quite find how to cleans something? It you know how that would be extremely helpful!!

Theres several different ways to cleanse but I think the most popular (or at least the one method I’ve seen most often) is smoke cleansing. So you would take some sage or Palo Santo, incense, etc, light it until it smokes and run your object through the smoke until you feel like it’s been properly cleansed. The only thing about smoke cleansing with sage is that please make sure it is Not white sage as that is an endagered species! Happy cleansing🤗
Thank you so much!! Blessed be!!
Palo Santo is also highly endangered and shouldn't be used as well.
it’s all about playing with different types of everything in this craft until you find things that work for you. :) I like putting stuff in salt (if it fits) and smoke cleansing. If you don’t have things to burn, salt in water+ intention is super good too.
I cleanse things different ways, personally. I cleanse my crystals by running them under warm water (but make sure the crystal you have doesn't dissolve in water, otherwise it will disappear!) and then charge them with the sun, or the full moon. I cleanse my candles, tools, room, etc. with incense smoke or sometimes by putting the things in salt (except for my entire room, of course; that would be silly and take a LOT of salt). And then I cleanse my work space/house with vinegar and moon water mixtures. I have one mixture that's infused with orange peels and another mixture infused with rosemary. You just gotta do what feels right to you.
I just wanted to add on that some stones will fade in the sun. So yes always do a little research on the stone you are working with. Also some stones do not react well to salt.
Oh and GhostlyPockets I loled at the bit about not salting the room.
@Lilian the_raven_lilian Oh, I didn't know some could fade in the sun! I'll have to take note of that. I wonder how someone would go about cleansing a salt lamp. Can't use water or it will dissolve and it seems silly to use salt to cleanse more salt. I guess that would leave smoke cleansing? Lol, and I'm glad I made you laugh. As I was writing the comment, I was like, "Wait, this makes it sound like I use salt to cleanse my whole room. That's ridiculous."
@GhostlyPockets One method that might work on the salt lamp is to use clear quartz. I've used it when my selenite wand needed some serious cleansing and selenite can't be cleansed with water or sunlight. On that note selenite might work for the salt lamp too.
Another possible way to cleanse is with sound. I have some bells that I will use, but I figure a pot or pan could achieve the same affect. Probably even your own voice. Just have to put your intention behind it.
