I have some lavender and rosemary in the garden that has grown really well, and I'm excited to use it in my craft. Since I'm a beginner, I thought of starting with some charm bags and protection jars, and cleansing sprays. But a lot of videos and spell recipes I've seen use dried herbs. Do I have to dry them first or can I use them fresh? Does it make a difference?

It doesn't really. Most people have dried just because they bought it or it's from past seasons because it lasts longer dried. But if you have fresh and would like to use it go ahead!
not at all :) the only reason people use dried herbs is because they last much, much longer. so for that reason it is more ideal for things like jars and charm bags, but do as you please!! if you hang the herbs upside down for a few weeks i believe they dry out. i don’t have a garden however so i’m not fully sure how to dry herbs! there is an argument out there on if fresh herbs are more ~potent~. i personally think both herbs are just as magical and it doesn’t matter. 🌞🌿
