So I’m a really beginner baby witch very new to the craft. And I’m a little confused how you go about working with deities. Like for instance how do you know which deities to work with? Do they choose you? How would I know? Do I just pick any deity I want to work with? Thanks in advance for anyone who helps! 😊💕

I think a great place to start is researching the history of deities that you feel particularly drawn to (or just research as many as you want haha)
Try to hold in your mind their symbols, their assocations with certain animals, items, moon cycles, etc etc. and then as you're going about your day pay more attention to things that happen to you. Do you see deer very very often? Do you keep spotting feathers in your path from a type of bird?
I found my only deity (so far) by spotting an article on facebook that i thought was particularly interesting about Hekate. After reading the article I read more into her history and symbolism, etc etc. Then I went about my day and finally noticed my altar had the set of random keys my boyfriend brought me for good luck one day (he just found them and didn't know where they'd come from, which is often associated with good luck). And he found them around the time that I had first started practicing, and Hekate is often associated with keys as she is the keyholder to the underworld or the spirit realm. I also realized I had a lantern that holds tea lights on my altar that my friend from Nevada had mailed to me as a gift a few months prior. She is associated with lanterns or torches because she leads the spirits of those passed to the spirit realm.
Not only that, but shortly after I started practicing I got some HARD truths dropped on me that made my life hell for a while. She is often associated as a deity that gives you the truth no matter how ruthless or painful it is.
It was then that I realized she'd been sending me symbols or messages for quite some time and had been extremely patient with me realizing what was going on haha.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of how to start c:
Thank you this is really helpful
