Hey there!
I’m a very sensitive empath. I get it from my Mom’s side of the family. I‘m trying to get a better handle on coping with surges of energy from other people and such. I saw that a few others also have difficulty dealing with energetic overload and wanted to share what I’ve done/found so far on my journey to better understand this gift.
I’ve learned certain stones, like clear quartz, act as magnifiers. The more/larger the amount of it, the more it intensifies energy in the surrounding area. It can lead to sensory overload. While great for spellwork, being in a showroom with tons of it at a mystic faire? It’s a hell of a draining experience. I can tell you that first-hand.
Stones that I’ve found that help are malachite (polished, as raw is dangerous), selenite (good for clearing your energy and restoring harmony), and labradorite (good for mental/emotional balance). Tiger’s eye is great for grounding but I’ve found it to be quite intense. Those are best when a particular stone calls out to you. Black hematite/black stones are great for drawing excess energy into them to help you breathe when it’s all too much.
I recently had a stone call out to me called a Shiva Lingam and it’s been a fantastic grounding stone for me. Its shape is both phallic and feminine in nature and it helps to balance those energies within the self. But being a river stone, too, it takes that natural cleansing energy from the waters of a river with it.
I’ve also done bath cleansings when I’m feeling extra overcharged/overloaded from everyone’s energies. To prep one is simple:
Tools
- A bowl big enough to fill with enough water to run over yourself
- Warm water
- Sea salt
What to Do
Go ahead and bathe as you would normally. Visualize the excess ick as black ooze as you scrub from yourself, swirling down the drain as the waters rinse it away. Let the sound of running water fill your ears. Feel the heat of the water course into your bones.
Breathe deep the warm air, visualize the it as a fine white mist. When you exhale, imagine that breath as grey mist exiting your system, taking tired sighs with it.
When you’re all squeaky clean, fill the bowl with water and shut the tap. Three shakes of sea salt into the bowl of water and stir it 9 times clockwise with your finger.
For a moment, take in the silence and center yourself. Visualize a soft white glow enveloping yourself and humming with soft energy. If you feel that your skin tingles/vibrated, that’s normal.
Take the bowl into your hands (sitting or standing is up to you) and focus your intent on the waters you now hold. Recite the chant below aloud or within yourself, either is fine). Say it as many times as you feel you need as you continue below.
Incantation/Chant
As these waters course over me
Let them also run through me
Taking all the clings to me down the drain
So mote it be
Begin to pour the water over your head and down your spine. Let it run over your chest, run some along your arms, torso, legs, and feet. Visualize these waters catching the last little remnants of the ick that clings to you.
When the bowl is empty, rinse it and towel yourself off as normal. I usually burn some white sage incense and light a white tealight candle afterwards, but that’s not mandatory. Do what you feel is best for you.
I’ve also had a book call out to me as of late that I find helps. It’s about setting boundaries so you can better shield yourself emotionally.
Boundaries & Protection by Pixie Lighthouse - $20 max from most retailers.
I hope all of this helps!!! **Edit 7/8/19: Included direct link on Amazon to the book recommendation.
Thanks so much for sharing! I didnt realize that clear quartz would amplify the energies of others! It is one of my favourite stones.
I have definetly found that labradorite helps guard against negative energy and if I know Ive definately taken on energy or emotion that isnt mine, yes a black stone like black tourmaline works.
The salt bath and incantation sound great!
I have cleansed myself with Palo Santo or sage before today and enchanted stones for protection more recently.
I enjoyed readig your post, thanks again :)
