I am new to witchcraft and find that when I'm performing spells I become afraid of doing something wrong, or not having clear enough intentions, and worry about the consequences of that. Also, every time I do altar work I feel like I'm not alone and unnerving things happen (ie. things falling over, music stopping etc.) I'm thinking of casting circles before my spell work so I can feel safer. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and what they did to make it better.

I would 100% recommend finding or making a banishing spell and using warding/sigils/runes around your house and mainly your spellcasting area. Circles will definitely help, and always remember, spellcasting is never perfect, because no one is. It takes a lot of practice. Many of my first ones failed because I was unintentionally blocking the magic instead of letting it flow. It takes time, thought, and meditation to realise what youve done wrong- and a diety/dietys or spirits for guidance(Which is purely optional) can be a big help. Just be careful choosing. Maybe even try a confidence/luck charm packet or jewelry enchantment.

hello, one suggestion would be to first cast a circle (if you want to), or do a cleansing ritual before performing your spell to help ward off negative energy, thoughts and other nasty things. Then write out exactly what you are wanting to produce from the spell, keep that right with you so you do not start to second guess yourself and your want/need of the spell.
I myself find it very helpful to not just write down my intention but also envision it as though it has happened already. This helps me to stay focused on what I want/need instead of worrying if I am doing things right. If it comes from your heart and soul and you know deep inside that this is something you truly need/want then the universe will provide. Just keep practicing, don’t focus on the negative, look at the positive and let your witchy self fly! Hope this was helpful!
