Sigil work is pretty private. You can just say they are doodles, if anyone asks.
If you can have them, candle spells have worked really well for me, and if you can't have big jar ones, tiny birthday candles work too. Any petitions you write can be burned as well.
Meditation and visualization are absolute godsends for a closet witch, too. Takes some practice, but it is well worth it when you can't practice how you want to.
For divination, a set of runestones in a small bag can be kept incognito almost anywhere just a lumpy little thing that won't be as obvious as a card deck. A pendulum can easily double as a necklace or even single-charm bracelet. While I don't have a formal altar, I've seen a lot of Pinterest posts about "travel altars" or even "secret altars" that fit in an Altoids tin...
If you want you can get a clear quartz. I'm practicing in secret too and started out using crystals in my meditation and manifestation rituals. A clear quartz can be used for almost anything and it can be hidden in your pocket! It's a small place to start but once you figure out what element you are drawn to most (candle magick, crystals, herbs, kitchen magick, divination etc.) you can slowly start to build up your tools and skills in those departments. The best part about the craft is the experimentation!
Goodluck!
I've been trying out kitchen work lately which works well for me. It also is a good way to get others involved. A good meal cooked with some extra love and a little magic can go a long way. You can also brew a cuppa tea and tape or draw a sigil on the bottom of the cup (or draw the sigil with honey or sugar on top of the tea) to help strengthen your intentions.
Kitchen witchery is AWESOME for those of us in the closet! Stir clockwise to attract something (happiness, money, protection, etc.) and counterclockwise to banish/repel something (negative energy, toxic relationships, etc.) Also, you can draw sigils into tea, coffee, or any drink with a spoon while mixing.
I'll often add sugar into tea or coffee and then stir widdershins (such a fun word!) while quietly chanting, "Negative energy, go away / leave right now and stay away / problems and stress don't attach to me / and as I will it so mote it be."
Enchanting/sanctifying/blessing jewelry you already have can be simple and won’t raise any suspicions. My Tree of Life pendant serves as both a pendulum and a protection amulet. (I feel a warm green shield around me when it’s active, so I can tell it’s worked.) I intend to charge my class ring with confidence, as it only comes out for major events like job interviews or court dates (I’m an attorney, not in trouble). My girlfriend gave me a Trinity Knot pendant for Christmas, but I haven’t decided on its function yet. Maybe trying something similar will work for you.

maybe that might help(: knot magic is easy and concealable and perfect for the broomcloseted witch. Also using incense and candles, cleansing is a witchcraft staple and not entirely obvious to nonwitch people. Making your altar look like aesthetic decor. Watching Olivias videos help too (:
One more thing I meant to add in my first reply: Altars can be beautiful, wands are fun, crystals are amazing, etc. etc. etc. -- but the only tool you really need is the one between your ears. :-)
You probably got over this by now, but I'm also practicing in secret and I found that you can use meditation time as a time to help ground yourself. You can also cook and grow herbs, using the excuse of wanting to learn more cooking and tea, but then also using herbs for spellwork. My family knows I'm fascinated by magick and I love writing fantasy stories, so when I made an altar pretending it's an aethstetic thing, they didn't really care. Also, for some people who DO like to use tools, they don't have to be super fancy. You can literally just use a stick that has a nice energy or a stone you can really feel, so try to play around with everything! Best of luck and blessed be, Zoé.
I am an honest person. So I confronted family about my spiritual practice. I am currently dependent on family and unable to drive due to seizures and job loss. Because I am honest, I am not sneaking things into the home without their permission. Family will not even let me bring the tools inside the house to practice. I have no outlet to practice and I am neglecting that part of me. I have to obey others like I am kid and they will not allow my belief system. I am at a loss....
Hello and sorry to hear about your confining situation. i noticed you used the word confronted when you explained how you informed your family of your spiritual path, just wondering if there was a large disagreement, disliking or any other negative things going on before you confronted them? Would they be willing to sit with you to allow you to explain what it is you are doing and why you feel drawn towards this path of witchcraft?, or could you pen each member a letter and leave it in places for them to find and read at their own leisure and process without being face to face and having raw emotions tied to the moment? If all of the above is a huge no you could always just use meditation as a means to focus on your intentions. You can write in a diary or journal, make sigils, write spell petitions, you already have wands attached to you that work better an any other object (your fingers and hands in case your wondering what I am meaning). Those would be the easiest and least invasive on your family to practice your witchcraft. I do really suggest talking to or writing to your family members who you live with and obviously care for you, not just physically but as loved member of the family. It is never fun hiding and arguing with family on spirituality. Good luck! And Happy Soon to be Halloween!
