I have been practice magic actively for a little over 10 months nor. I have been studying it for about 3 years now. I came into my craft after my kother passed away. I felt things I couldnt explain and my craft helped me find the answers and closure I needed.

A month lol
Maybe 6 months or so.
4 months! ~Light and Love~
I have been studying for 3 years as well! Although I started practicing 5 months ago.
Oh dear... I'm twenty-eight now.
I got started with Wicca at the age of eleven, so I could say I've been a Pagan for seventeen years. I fell out of Wicca about two months later – when you're eleven, interests don't seem to stick. There have been phases of Atheism and Buddhism and trying to get into Christianity and altogether apathy towards anything metaphysical.
Now, I've been practicing (or, mostly studying) for seven years. I still feel like there's so much to learn before I can start practicing. I've been active in witchblr for a year and a half, and it's been awesome.
That's the Capricorn (my sun sign) in me speaking. I want to know everything so I don't make mistakes when I do start practicing. I know it's impossible, but it's difficult to shake it. So I do consider myself a beginner in spellcraft. Not in Tarot divination, but most of spellcraft is completely out of my league, so to speak.
I totally understand what you mean about studying and research. I did a lot of research after watching Olivia's candle magic episode before I felt comfortable doing my first spell. Best thing to do is to try things. If you make a mistake, that is totally how you feel. There really isn't a right way to do things. I am a Cancer and trust me, we always play it safe. Lots of research and study before trying each little thing. Good luck and have fun!

Oh yes! Even growing up in a "witchy" household I feel like the most important and valuable part of the journey is to research and read as much and as broadly as you can.
I completely understand the wanting to know everything before starting. That is how I felt as well, but I realized the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty. Candle magic is a great place to start! I suggest this book it really has helped me. Also, with practice I am sure you could do lost of spells and rituals. Just go into everything with clear intentions and your spell will manifest what you need.
On and off since 2014, how active I am with witchcraft really depended on my living situation at any given point in time and now that I live on my own without religious parents or housemates being needlessly nosy I can practice more often without being berated for 'defecting' or "doing the devil's work' (which is absolutely not what witchcraft is) lol
I've been practicing for only around a month but I've been researching and studying for a few years.
I've been actively practicing since my sixteenth birthday but since my mom and grandma are romani witches I've been living with the craft since birth. Grew up around plants, crystals and played with oracles and tarot cards. Which feels like an absolute blessing, especially when I hear/read about what secret witches have to live through. I have the privilege to always have a safe space at home and I'm so grateful for that.
Studying for about 6ish years, practicing on and off. I've been more serious about it these last three months.
samesies, studying 6-7 years, practicing on and off, serious for the last 10 months or so
Not even a month XD
About 3 months
been studying things not influenced by the holy roman empire for 16 years now not sure how much to call practicing, because some of it was active some was passive also being very ecletic its hard to pin point
I've been practicing since I was 13, so about 6 years now. I've been practicing WELL for maybe the last 3 or 4. When I started I was so stiff about everything I did and I didn't put enough of myself into my craft that I don't think anything ever really took. None of my spells manifested and none of my craft felt like it had anything to do with me personally. Now that I've let go of that fear that any spells or alterations that I create make a spell less real, I've been a lot better off
My son's father (now passed to Summerland) turned me on to Robert Graves' The White Goddess in 1972, and I decided to follow a Witchy path a couple of years later. So I've been involved in the Craft for about 45 years, now. (I'll turn 70 in a few weeks -- a real Crone!) One of the things I love about it is there is always something new and wonderful to learn.
2 years now
I've been practicing for 20 years, since I was 12 years old :)
Hi! I am a super new witch, only a few months in. I am actually still getting my grimoire together, altar, and recently obtained a few herb plants to take care off and use. I, similar to many, was raised Christian. But never had a connection to it, just went for my mom. I have always been interested and drawn to witchcraft and have finally decided to really dedicate to it and stop putting it off.
I'm nominally Jewish but have always taken organized religion of any kind with a grain or three of salt (due primarily to my mother having the same attitude, but I was always allowed to make my own spiritual choices once I could show I had at least a basic grasp of what I was talking about). I've been using tarot cards or runestones (or both!) and/or working with energy manipulation and/or doing candle spells consistently for about three years, but in "on and off" mode since the early 1970s. (Yes, I really am a dinosaur. <g>)
I have been researching/studying for 30 yrs on and off. I took the basic course by Gavin and Yvonne Frost (Church of Wicca) in the early 1990s when I was on active duty in the U.S. Army.
I practiced some at times and I consider myself a solitary practicioner. Now that I have found Wonderlust I feel renewed in the craft. Thanks all!
